PAL Launches CEB-TAG and TAG-ICN


Philippine Airlines (PAL) mounted its first international flight out of Tagbilaran last June 22, making Bohol’s capital the fifth Philippine gateway for foreign travelers.

PAL operates daily Tagbilaran – Incheon (South Korea) flights, allowing travelers to reach their destination conveniently with no stop-over in Manila.

PR2482 departs Tagbilaran everyday at 5:20 pm. The return flight leaves Incheon at 2:30 AM, arriving Tagbilaran at 6:00 am.

The new Cebu-Tagbilaran route, the first domestic link to Bohol outside of Manila, also opened last July 22.

“Making Tagbilaran a new international gateway provides foreigners with the fastest link to the attractions of Bohol and nearby Visayas cities. Linking international points to sought after places in the Visayas through convenient connections is the flag carrier’s way of catering to the travel needs of our  patrons”, PAL President and COO Jaime J. Bautista said.

Other Philippine cities with international PAL flights include Manila, Cebu, Clark and Kalibo.

The new service also provides Korean travelers – comprising the country’s largest tourist arrivals – direct access to Bohol’s unique attractions, from tarsiers to Chocolate Hills. Other lures of Tagbilaran are powdery-sand beaches, dive spots, heritage sites and old stone churches. The city has recently become a favorite venue for national conventions and conferences.

PAL will operate the daily Tagbilaran-Cebu flights via PR 2874, departing 7AM and arriving in the Queen City of the South  7:30 AM. The flight leaves Cebu at 3:30 PM and touches down in Tagbilaran by 4 PM. Tagbilaran, located at the southwestern tip of the island province of Bohol, is just 72 kilometers south of Cebu City. From Cebu, holiday seekers can connect to 12 domestic and six international destinations.

The new services will increase domestic connections of the Queen City of the South to 13 which already include the following: Cebu – Bacolod, Busuanga, Butuan, Cagayan, Caticlan, General Santos, Iloilo, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa, Surigao, and Tacloban.

Effective July 1, 2017, Philippine Airlines flights to and from the Middle East (except Dubai flights) will depart from and arrive in NAIA Terminal 1, Pasay City.

PAL flights to the Middle East covered by this new terminal assignment (T1) are:

Philippine Airlines Flies to KUL


After a three year absence, Philippine Airlines (PAL) resumes daily service to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia  last June 8, 2017. Close to 800,000 Overseas Filipino Workers are employed in Malaysia.

“The resumption of PAL flights between Manila and Kuala Lumpur will help foster economic and cultural ties between the Philippines and Malaysia. Most importantly, it addresses the clamor for a direct service between the two capital cities,” said PAL President and COO Jaime J. Bautista.

“Through PAL flights and code-share partners, we can carry passenger traffic from Kuala Lumpur to China, Japan, South Pacific and North America and thus enhance our ASEAN network,” he added.

“As the airport operator, we are always committed towards building a strong relationship with our partner airlines to support its growth, not only in Malaysia but globally. Our mission here at Malaysia Airports is to create joyful experiences for all our stakeholders. Therefore, we will ensure that Philippines Airlines operations will receive Malaysia Airports’ fullest support for any airport facilities and services needed at the terminal,” shared Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager Zainol Mohd Isa.

The decision to return to Kuala Lumpur comes after PAL and Malaysia Airlines expanded their code-share arrangement. The enhancements include code-sharing on 12 domestic Malaysian destinations and nine domestic Philippine destinations.

The points are:

Malaysia – Alor Setar, Johor Bahru, Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Terengganu, Kuching, Labuan (Sabah), Langkawi, Miri (Sarawak), Penang, Sibu (Sarawak), Tawau (Sabah).

Philippines – Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, General Santos, Iloilo, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa, Caticlan.

Passengers may book on Business Class or Economy Class to any of these destinations. Lounge access is also available to Business Class passengers.

Current frequent flyer baggage benefits of Mabuhay Miles and Enrich members are also extended.

Code-share passengers traveling between terminals in Manila can avail of PAL’s free transfer services.

Passengers can choose from any of the daily Manila-Kuala Lumpur flight timings.

  • PR 525 departs Manila every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 7:25 AM and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 11:00 AM local time; the return flight – PR526 – leaves Kuala Lumpur on the same days at 12:10 PM local time, and touches down in Manila at 3:50 PM.
  • PR 527 leaves Manila on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 11:30 AM and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 3:00 PM local time; the return service – PR528 – departs Kuala Lumpur on the same days at 4:00 PM local time and touches down in Manila at 7:30 PM.

PAL is deploying the Airbus A321 on the route. The 199-seater aircraft has 12 seats in business class, 18 in premium economy and 169 in regular economy.

Wireless inflight entertainment can be enjoyed while flying onboard the A321 by downloading the myPAL Player app for free. This will allow passengers to stream movies, TV shows and music from their personal electronic devices. Passengers also have meal options – Asian, Western or Halal meals. Generous free baggage allowance form part of the flight offerings.

The PAL service enables travelers from KL to enjoy Manila for several days and connect to any of PAL’s 28 domestic and 42 international destinations.

All Nippon Airways (Japan) tops the list which has flown the most packed planes at 91% average capacity.  ANA is followed by American Airlines at 88%, closely followed by Delta Air Lines (USA) at 87% seat utilization over the past four years.

Half Empty Planes

Air Niugini (Papua New Guinea) averages 54%, while Philippine carriers Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines have an average capacity of 59.5% and 60.1% respectively.

Australian carrier Qantas is at number 19 and flies at an average of 79.9% capacity.

Philippine Airlines Acquires 2 Addt’l B777-300ER

Philippine Airlines is set to accept the deliveries of two Boeing 777-300ER this December, 2017. The acquisition of the airlines’ two B777 is based on a long term agreement with Intrepid Aviation.

These planes are capable of flying longhaul and will have 370 seats in two classes, 42 BCL seats and 328 ECY.

“The Boeing aircraft will serve the Manila-London route, a move designed to primarily enhance the total passenger travel experience and inflight service delivery. While we already have eight B777 serving the West Coast, the incoming units will also augment other trans-Pacific flights,” according to PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Jaime J. Bautista.

On top of the two B777-300ER, PAL is expected to receive Bombardier Q400 turboprops for domestic operations and  two Airbus 320NEO.

 

Philippine Airlines Resumes KUL Flight

Beginning June 8, Philippine Airlines will resume its resume flights to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) from Manila (MNL).

PR 525 departs MNL every Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun at 0725H and arrives in KUL at 1100H. PR 526 leaves KUL on the same day at 1210H and arrives in MNL at 1550H.

On Tues, Thur and Sat, PR 527 departs MNL at 1130H and arrives in KUL at 1500H. Return flight, PR 528, leaves KUL at 1600H and lands in MNL at 1930H.

PAL will be utilizing the the A321 with 199 seats (12 BCL seats,  18 in premium ECY and 169 regular ECY seats).

PAL’s new strategic investor to be known soon

With the due diligence already completed, Philippine Airlines expects the entry of a strategic investor anytime within the first half of this year. PAL president Jaime Bautista declined to identify the investor stating that it is also an airline company. He did not comment on the country of origin of the strategic investor.
The Philippines allows foreign investor to own up to (maximum) 40% stake of a local company. PAL’s investor is interested in less than 40% although they are willing to give up the maximum allowed if the investor is willing to make that investment.

 

This new investor is can help contribute equity, management, route, codeshare and possible membership in an alliance. Despite being in “advanced talks,” the PAL executive said it is still open to other possible investors.

Welcome Back to KL Philippine Airlines!


Philippine Airlines will fly back to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia after a three year hiatus.

PAL will start flying to the Malaysian capital starting 8 June 2017. The new daily flight will use the A321 configured with 12 BCL seats and 169 ECY seats.

Malaysia hosts approximately 800,000 overseas Filipino workers.

Philippine Airlines Flies to Doha


Philippine Airlines is set to fly to Doha effective 26 March 2017. PAL will fly direct to Hamad International Airport four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) from MNL’s NAIA Terminal II. PAL’s non-stop operation will be in addition to its current thrice-weekly Manila-Doha service via Abu Dhabi, scheduled every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The flight departs, ex-MNL, at 1.30pm (local time). From DOH, the flight departs at 1.30pm (local time). Philippine Airlines will use A330-300.

PAL’s new service to Doha is part of the flag carrier’s expansion plans to the Middle East, in addition to Abu Dhabi and Dubai (UAE), Dammam, Riyadh and Jeddah (KSA) and Kuwait.
